Calvorde is an Ohre River/Elbe River cruise port and town in Germany's Saxony-Anhalt state (Sachsen Anhalt's Borde district), with population around 3,500. The town is located approx 37 km (23 mi) northwest Magdeburg (state's capital city) and approx 15 km (9 mi) northwest of Haldensleben (district's administrative center).
Calvorde is on Ohre River (one of Elbe's tributaries) with length 103 km (64 mi). Ohre originates in Niedersachsen / Lower Saxony (north of Wolfsburg) and flows south-east following both states border (Niedersachsen-Sachsen Anhalt). After Buchhorst (Oebisfelde) Ohre River flows through Niedersachsen and along the Mittellandkanal (Mittelland Canal, linking France-Switzerland-Belgium-Holland-Luxembourg-Poland-Czech Republic-Baltic Sea). Ohre flows into Elbe River in Rogatz ( Borde district, north of Magdeburg City).
