Cambridge MD is a port city located in Maryland (East Coast USA). The city covers a total area of approx 13 mi2 (33 km2) and has population around 13,000. Cambridge is the gateway to the Blackwater NWR/National Wildlife Refuge - a 1933-founded sanctuary for migratory birds with an abundance of forests and wetlands) located approx 13 mi / 20 km south of downtown. The Blackwater Refuge is also home to 165 threatened or endangered plant species, and, seasonally, to migrating geese (~15000) and ducks (~10000).

Cambridge is the county seat of Dorchester County, the County's largest municipality and 4th most-populous city in Maryland's Eastern Shore region - following Salisbury, Elkton, Easton. The town was established along Choptank River in 1684 by English colonists, making it of state's oldest settlements. During colonial years was developed farming, with the largest plantations initially growing tobacco. The town also developed as the trade centre for the region, including for slave trade (via shipping).

In 2002, the city's economy was boosted by tourism and jobs associated with the opening of 400-room Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort (spa, golf course, yacht marina). In July 2003, the city was designated Maryland Main Street community. Cambridge Main Street (designated historical district in downtown) was enhanced with history-themed tourism attractions. Horn Point Lab is currently East Coast USA's largest oyster hatchery.

The city is served by Route 50 (US 50, aka Ocean Gateway) that bisects Cambridge and runs for ~3000 mi (~4800 km) connecting from Ocean City MD (Atlantic Ocean) with West Sacramento CA (Pacific Ocean). Cambridge-Dorchester Airport is a county-owned airport located approx 3 mi (5 km) to the southeast or at ~10 min drive distance. The airport serves domestic flights only, including charters, helicopters and military aircraft. MDDE (Maryland-Delaware Railroad) a storyline (120 mi / 195 km long) railroad opened in 1977. At Seaford DE, MDDE interchanges with Delmarva Central Railroad, which at Clayton DE interchanges with Norfolk Southern Railway.
