Cefalu is a port town on Sicily Island (Italy), part of the Province of Palermo. The town is located on the island's northern coast, and on Tyrrhenian Sea, approx 70 km (43 ml) east of Palermo, and approx 185 km (115 ml) west of Messina. The town's population is around 14,000. Despite its small size, Cefalu is a resort town and major tourist destination in Italy. It attracts every year millions of visitors from all over the country and Europe.
The Cathedral in Cefalu (built in the 12th century) is in a style of Norman architecture. Its exterior is well preserved, and largely adorned with interlacing pointed arches. On each side of the facade, there is a massive, 4-storey high tower.
