Collonges-au-Mont-d'Or (France)

Collonges-au-Mont-d'Or is a Saone River cruise port and town in eastern France (Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region, Lyon Metro area) with a population of around 4,000. The created in 2015 Metropole de Lyon (Greater Lyon) is an inter-municipal department and metropolis consisting of 59 municipalities with a combined population of around 1,4 million. Lyon City has a population of around 0,52 million.

The town is nestled in a river loop and spreads from Mont Cindre's (mountain) eastern flank in the plain of Varennes. At the loop's center is located the crescent-shaped l'île Roy (Royal Island).

Collonges is served by Road 51 (running along the river) and Road 89 (connecting via Saint-Cyr to Saint-Romain in Cote-d'Or). Road 51, along with the riverside scenery also features cycling lanes (in both directions) crossing the entire town. Collonges-Fontaines train station serves mainly suburban-type regularly (hourly) scheduled trains connecting to Vienne (Isere department, via Lyon-Perrache), to Macon (Saone-et-Loire department, via Villefranche-sur-Saone) and to Lyon-Part-Dieu (Lyon City's La Part-Dieu district) and Roanne (Loire department).
