Como is a Lake Como (Adda River) cruise port and city in Italy's in Lombardy region (northwestern Italy) with a population of around 85,000. The town is located on Lake Como (aka Lario) southwestern shore. Adda River (a Po River tributary) flows through the lake.
Town's proximity to Lake Lario and the Alps Mountain make it a very popular vacation travel destination for both domestic and international tourists. The city also attracts travelers with its numerous artworks, museums, medieval architecture (churches, palaces), and scenery (nature parks and gardens). The best-known landmarks include Duomo di Como (15th-century cathedral), Basilica di San Fedele (early-12th-century church), Chiesa di Sant'Agostino (early-14th-century church), Sant'Abbondio di Como (11th-century basilica), Basilica di San Carpoforo (11th-century, built over a former temple of the Roman god Mercury), Broletto (medieval town hall), Villa Olmo (late-18th-century, built by the Odescalchi family, now a museum), Tempio Voltiano (museum), Castello Baradello (12th-century castle overlooking the city), Museo Didattico Della Seta (silk museum), Museo Liceo (scientific), Pinacoteca Civica di Palazzo Volpi (17th-century palace, now an art gallery).
As cruise port, Como was included in the 2019 schedule of the Scylla-owned ship Inspire, operated under charter by Tauck River Cruises. The next table shows Tauck's 9-day itinerary (between homeports Amsterdam and Basel/Zurich) as ports sequence. The cruise tour is inclusive of bus transfers and train travel (between Zurich and Como). Prices started at ~USD 5100 per person (double occupancy rates).

The nearest airports with regularly scheduled international flights are in Milano (Malpensa, Linate), Bergamo (Orio al Serio) and Lugano (Switzerland). Malpensa Airport (Milan) is approx 30-min drive by car (~2 hours by train) Linate Airport (Milan) is approx 1-hour by car or train). Orio al Serio Airport (Bergamo) is approx 90-min by car (2 hours by train). Lugano Agno Airport is approx 1-hour by car (1,5 hours by train) and offers only direct flights between Switzerland and Italy (often via private charter planes). Train travel between Como and Zurich is 3-5 hours.
