Located in Coral Sea, Conflict Islands PNG are an archipelago consisting of 21 isles surrounding a blue lagoon with a pristine reef system. The Conflict island group is an atoll located in Papua New Guinea. In 1789, the archipelago was discovered by the crew of HMS Cormorant ship. In 1880, it was named by the Captain of the HMS Conflict ship.
With a third of the species of marine fish in the world, Conflict Islands shelter everything from the little ghost pipe fish to the enormous killer whales. Group's 21 uninhabited tropical isles surround an exciting lagoon and are under consideration for World Heritage Marine Site. Irai island, which is among the group of islands, features the second-best coral in the world with the largest number of species noted in a single dive. This new Pacific Ocean ship travel destination is among the region's best for snorkeling and diving excursions.
P&O Australia's ship Pacific Jewel was the first cruise liner to visit the privately-owned Conflict Islands in June 2016. Next 2016 scheduled visits to Conflict Islands were of the P&O ships Pacific Aria (Aug 5, Oct 10, Nov 7, Dec 26), Pacific Jewel (Sept 2) and Pacific Eden (Sept 15, Sept 22, Oct 20, Nov 9, Nov 26).
