Danco Island (aka Isla Dedo) is located in Errera Channel, off Antarctic Peninsula's western coast (Graham Land) and close to Neko Harbour. The island was first mapped during the Belgian Antarctic Expedition (1897-99) and was first surveyed (and officially named) in 1955.
On Danco Island was the British Research Station O (active between 1956-59, demolished in 2004). The isle is relatively small (approx 1 mi in length). This part of Errera Channel is best for viewing whales (Minke and Humpback). The island itself is home to ~1600 gentoo penguins pairs.
