Eberbach is a Neckar River/Rhine River cruise port and town in Germany's Baden-Wurttemberg state (Rhein-Neckar-Kreis district) with population around 15,000. The town is on Neckar River (one of Rhine's major tributaries) and approx 33 km (21 mi) east of Heidelberg.

Eberbach-Baden is at the foot of Katzenbuckel (highest elevation 626 m / 2053 ft) in Odenwald (Naturpark Neckartal-Odenwald). The town is on the Castle Road (Burgenstrasse) leading from Mannheim all the way to Prague) along Neckar River.

Eberbach is an ex- Imperial Free City. It was established soon after 1227 (then the castle was mentioned for the first time) by German King Henry VII of Hohenstaufen. In 1330, following his pledge to Counts Palatine, the old Imperial Free City belonged to the Electorate of the Palatinate. It passed to the Principality of Leiningen in 1803, and since 1806 has belonged to Baden. The city was the seat of Bezirksamt (authority office) until 1924 and in 1977 celebrated a 750-year jubilee.

Eberbach is the headquarters to the biggest gelatin producer in the world, GELITA Group, rowboat building yard Empacher, textile machine factory Dilo, and Krauth Technology, ticket vending and fare collecting machine manufacturer, whose products are sold worldwide. Headquarters of wire makers Neckardraht Group is likewise also found in the city on the Neckar.

The historic old town of Eberbach is a pedestrian precinct. It is a magnet for tourists with its 4 well-maintained towers, some town wall remnants and well-kept timber-frame houses. Likewise, Eberbach castle ruins, standing above Eberbach on one of the mountains in Odenwald range that surrounds the town, are worth sightseeing as part of a string of castles along the Neckar River.
