Ellenz-Poltersdorf is a Moselle River cruise port and a small town in Germany's Rhineland-Palatinate state (Cochem-Zell district) with population around 1,000. This winegrowing Ellenz-Poltersdorf region belongs to Verbandsgemeinde of Cochem, with a seat in Cochem.

Mayen is approx 30 km (19 mi) away, and Koblenz is approx 50 km (31 mi) away. Directly across Moselle River is Beilstein, connected with Ellenz-Poltersdorf via regular ferry service.

The municipality is on Moselle River and in the middle of Cochemer Krampen - a 24 km (15 mi) long inland waterway made up of lots of winding bows. The town is situated on a point bar, located towards the southeast flattens as it reaches the river.

While the municipal area (mainly wooded land) stretches along both sides of Moselle, the 2 constituent communities (Poltersdorf and Ellenz) are both on the river's left bank. As here are most of the vineyards, most winegrowing estates are also within the municipal area. The most popular is Ellenzer Goldbaumchen.

In 1794, the overlordship held by Electorate of Trier was swept away via French Revolutionary occupation. In 1815, Ellenz-Poltersdorf was assigned to Prussia. Until 1945, the town was part of Germany's Rhine Province and since 1946 it is part Rhineland-Palatinate.
