Emmerich is a Rhine River cruise port and town in Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia state (Kleve district) with population around 30,000. Port Emmerich (locode DEEMM) has a harbor (at the river) and is located very close to the Germany-Holland border (Netherlands' Gelderland province) just 4 km (2,5 mi) to the north and 5 km (3 mi) to the west.

The settlement (Embrika) was founded by the Romans and known under its current name (Emmerich) since the 7th century AD. The Oberhausen-Arnhem railway links Emmerich with Oberhausen and Wesel (in Germany) and with Arnhem and Amsterdam (in Holland). Intercity-Express (high-speed trains) links with Amsterdam, Frankfurt am Main, Austria, and Switzerland. The hourly-running Rhein-Express train service links Emmerich with Koblenz, Duisburg, and Dusseldorf.

Rhine Bridge (1965-built) connects with Kleve (south) and by river span (500 m / 1640 ft) is currently Germany's longest suspension bridge under which daily pass 500+ vessels (passenger and cargo). The maritime-themed Rhine Museum has a collection of 130 ship models and features a Biber (1-man minisubmarine fitted with 2 torpedoes).

As cruise port, Emmerich was included in the 2020 schedule of one of Europe's largest river cruise companies - CroisiEurope. The next table shows the 8-day itinerary operated by the ship Douce France between homeports Amsterdam and Basel.
