Folegandros Island is one of the smaller Greek islands in the Cyclades archipelago (south Aegean Sea) in the eastern Mediterranean. Together with the islands Ios, Sikinos, Santorini and Anafi, it forms the Cyclades' southern part. The island covers an area of approx 32 km2 (12 ml2) and has population under 1,000. Its all 3 villages (Ano Meria, Chora, and Karavostasis) are connected by a paved road. Thira (on Santorini Island) is the regional unit.
The landscape of Folegandros Island features a large cave and tall cliffs. The isle's "capital" Chora is built on the edge of 200-metre high cliff (shown of the photo above). Folegandros port is the tiny village of Karavostasis. Ano Meria village contains a little but intriguing Ecological and Folklore Museum. Among the famous beaches on Folegandros island is Katergo, accessible by boat from Karavostasis.
