Fredericia (aka Trekanten / "The Triangle") is a port town in Denmark, located in the Jutland peninsula's eastern part. The town has population around 40,000 and is one of Denmark's largest traffic hubs. The same-named municipality is part of East Jutland metro area (population around 1,2 million).

Fredericia was established in 1650 AD by Frederick III (1415-1493, Holy Roman Emperor) and named after him. After the devastation in largely unfortified Jutland that was caused by Thirty Years War (1618-48), Christian IV of Denmark (1577-1648) decided to build a strong fortress town in Jutland. The fortified encampment was created on Lyngs Odde (close to town's current location), with rampart protecting it from land attacks. On December 15, 1650, King Frederick III granted Fredericia (originally named Frederiksodde) town status. The town was renamed Fredericia in 1664.

Annually, on July 6, the town holds a festival to commemorate the Battle of Fredericia (1849) fought during the First Schleswig War (1848-51, aka Trearskrigen). Then, Denmark won a victory over Schleswig-Holstein rebels, laying siege to the town.

As cruise port, Fredericia handled 19 ship calls in 2019 (including 10 maiden port calls) from 5 different cruise companies. In 2018, the port handled 8 cruise calls and ~12,000 tourists. The list of passenger shipping lines includes RCI-Royal Caribbean, AIDA, Marella UK, Saga UK, Disney, Phoenix Reisen, Hapag-Lloyd, Seabourn, Silversea.
