Gallician (France)

Gallician is a Rhone River cruise port and village in France's Gard département (Languedoc-Roussillon region) with population around 1,000. The village is approx 6 km (4 ml) south of Vauvert (town) on Canal du Rhone a Sete). This artificial waterway connects Rhone River with Canal du Midi at Sete (Sete, on the French Riviera).

The village is also part of France's Petite Camargue (natural region south of Arles and between Mediterranean Sea and Rhone River Delta) featuring as scenery wet plains and lakes. Local economy is based mainly on viticulture/winegrowing, fishing and tourism. The boat marina serves leisure yachting and hotel barging. Bas-Rhone Languedoc (irrigation canal ) flows north to village. Gallician is the start point of Via Rhona - long-distance cycling path (along Rhone River) linking to Palavas. Gallician's best-known attractions include Eglise de Gallician (church), 3 large houses (Beata, Notaire, Mourgues), baker shop, small supermarket, 2 bar restaurants, bullfight arena, camping site, winery.

As cruise port, Gallician is included in the regular schedule of the luxury hotel barge Anne Marie. The boat is owned and operated by one of Europe's largest river cruise companies - CroisiEurope.
