Gaspe is a port town located at the tip of Gaspe Peninsula (eastern Quebec, Canada) and is located approx 650 km (400 mi) northeast of Quebec City. Town's population is around 15,000.

The town borders the sea and St Lawrence River for some 130 km (80 mi). Nearly 90% of the inhabitants are French Canadians. In the town of Gaspe on July 24, 1534 Jacques Cartier (French explorer, 1491-1557) took possession of New France (today part of Canada) in the name of king Francis I of France (House of Valois, 1494-1547).

The regional hospital is the region's main employer. Another big employer is a factory making windmill blades. The windmill factory is also a popular tourist attraction where visitors can see the large size of the produced blades and can take pictures next to them. Tourism is a major part of the city's and region's economy. Thousands flock to Gaspe every summer to enjoy the surrounding attractions, including Forillon National Park which is fully within the boundaries of the city. One of the most interesting summer attractions is salmon fishing. York River, Dartmouth River and Saint John's River are where locals and tourists come to fish. Other tourist attractions include the stone monument Jacques Cartier's Cross, Haldimand Beach, and a local museum sheltering the WWI and WWII cenotaph which commemorates Gaspesian veterans.

Cruise port's season 2019 (April 29 through October 9) started with the arrival of MS Fram (Hurtigruten), with a total of 39 ship calls scheduled. For maiden port visits in 2019 were booked Scenic Eclipse (Scenic), Le Champlain (Ponant), RCGS Resolute (One Ocean Expeditions), Seven Seas Navigator (RSSC-Regent) and Viking Sun (Viking Ocean).

Gaspe cruise terminal

Gaspe cruise port has one 2-sided wharf. The port is accessible year-round, with occasional help by an ice-breaker ship. Due to the Gaspe Marina wharf's small size, most cruise ships are anchored and their passengers transported to the wharf via the ship's tender boats.

Tendering also provides cruise ship passengers with a 5-min scenic ride. Travel distance between the anchorage and Gaspe Marina is approx 1 km (0,6 ml).

At the wharf there is a gangway and a terminal building (Pavilion). It offers as services and amenities gift shop, locally made merchandise, phones, Wi-Fi internet, tourist information. In front the Pavilion there is a parking lot for bus shuttles and taxis, as well as car rentals.

The port's near neighbour Chandler is a port of call for the CTMA Vacancier ferry ship (built 1973 as MS Aurella), which service links Montreal to Iles de la Madeleine (Magdalen Islands).
