Geraldton is a port town in Western Australia's mid-western part, with population around 40,000. The port is approx 425 km (263 ml) north of Perth. Port Geraldton is a primary west coast seaport and a major logistics and service centre for Western Australia's fishing, mining, sheep, wheat and tourism industries.

Point Moore Lighthouse (to the south) is a historical and cultural attraction, and the oldest still operational lighthouse in Western Australia. This was also Australia's first steel tower.

In 2007, Geraldton harbour's waterfront (previously abandoned railway marshalling yard) was largely redeveloped. It currently hosts kids playground with green spaces, water activities areas, beaches, basketball court, shaded playground and picnic areas. New attraction (completed in 2018) is the sky walk at Kalbarri Park.

As cruise port, Geraldton is managed by Mid West Ports Authority and annually handles around 10 ship calls. City-organized groups of volunteers greet cruise tourists upon arrival and provide assistance and information on tours and other shore activities. For season 2017-2018 were scheduled 10 ship visits, 6 of which were maiden / first-time. For season 2018-2019 were scheduled 8 ship calls, for 2019-2020 - 10 calls.
