Green Cove Springs FL is a St Johns River cruise port and town in Florida USA (Clay County) with population around 7,000. The town is named after river's portion upon which it was built, and is best-known for its warm mineral spring (called "Original Fountain of Youth"). Green Cove Springs is located approx 45 km (28 mi) from Jacksonville FL and approx 40 km (26 mi) from Palatka FL.
The settlement (initially named White Sulfur Springs) was founded in 1854 and renamed in 1866. Since the 19th-century, spring's sulfur-scented healing water attracts tourists and helped the town to develop a small-scale hospitality industry. Today, the spring feeds an adjacent swimming pool and eventually flows into Saint Johns River.
