Hoya-Weser (Hoya an der Weser) is a Weser River cruise port and town in Germany's Niedersachsen/Lower Saxony state (Nienburg district) with population around 4,000. The town is approx 20 km (12 mi) north of Nienburg and approx 15 km (9 mi) southwest of Verden an der Aller (on Aller River/Weser's tributary).
Weser River has length 452 km (281 mi), flows through 6 German states (Bremen, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Thuringia, Hesse), passes through 3 major cities (Bremen, Bremerhaven, Nordenham) and empties into the North Sea.
Hoya is Niedersachsen's/state's geographic center and the municipality's administrative center. During the Middle Ages, the town was the center of Grafschaft Hoya (Hoya County / 1202-1582 AD, a state of the Holy Roman Empire/800-1806 AD).
Popular tourist attractions include the buildings Schloss Hoya (13th-century castle), Kulturzentrum Martinskirche (18th-century church of St Martinus), half-timbered houses (17th-19th centuries), Heimatmuseum Hoya (history museum housed in the 17th-century manor house Staffhorstschen), Burgmannshof (18th-century mansion), Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall/19th-century).
