The concession deal includes the exclusive use and management of all the Port's assets, as well as the fishing shelters Sagiada (to the north) and Plataria (south) and Syvota's yacht shelter.Epirus and one of the largest commercial ports in Greece, strategic for connections between mainland Greece and the rest of Europe.

Regularly scheduled cruise ferries by the companies Grimaldi Lines, Minoan Lines, Anek Superfast, and Ventouris Ferries connect Igoumenitsa with Italy (Ancona, Bari, Brindisi, Venice), while Kerkyra Lines' boats connect to Corfu Island and Paxos Island. The routes are served as follow:

Igoumenitsa has two ports: The New Port and The Old Port. The New Port is the 2nd busiest passenger port of Greece, following Piraeus, even surpassing the seaports Iraklion (Crete) and Patras (the third and fourth-largest in the country).

The port handles regularly scheduled ferries between Greece and Italy (to Brindisi). These are passenger and car ferryboats operated by Hellenic Mediterranean Lines (HML).
