Isla Gamez is a small island part of Panama's Chiriquí Gulf National Marine Park, in the Pacific Ocean. The island is a protected area and uninhabited. Wildlife includes sea turtles (leatherback and hawksbill), seabirds (tiger herons), green iguanas, howler monkeys, humpback whales, hammerhead sharks, whitetip sharks, manta rays, dolphins, colorful tropical fish. The island also has beautiful beaches.
The 1994-established Marine Park covers a total area of 150 km2 (58 mi2), including mangrove swamp, marine meadow, 19 coral reefs, 25 small isles (all covered by tropical forests - cedar, hawthorn, oak).
Cruise ships to Isla Gamez and the nearby Isla Parida need a special permit to visit the national park. The ships anchor at sea and their passengers are transported to the island via the ship's tender boats or Zodiacs (inflatable boats used for landings).
