Karlstadt am Main (aka Karscht / Karscht am Mee) is a Main River cruise port and town in Germany's Bavaria state (Lower Franconia region's Main-Spessart district) with population around 15,000. Largest vineyards in Karlstadt are Rosstal and Im Stein.

Today, winegrowing is of small economic importance, but still of great cultural significance and importance for the local way of life. Schwenk Cement Works, Kohl Wood Veneer Factory and Duker Ironworks are the largest industries. Besides these plants, many handicraft businesses are also well developed in Karlstadt. Many inhabitants commute to Wurzburg (approx 25 km / 16 mi to the south) and to Lohr am Main (18 km  / 11 mi to the west).

Karlstadt is at the junction of two federal highways (B26 and B27). The town can be accessed by two road bridges across Main River - Alte Mainbrucke (1953-built) and Neue Mainbrucke (2005-built). The town can also be reached via cruise ships, trains and small planes (has a small airfield with a grass track). The Hanover-Wurzburg railway provides high-speed train line through the district (running north-south). Within the town's limits is also a section of Muhlbergtunnel - 5528-m (3,4 ml) long railway tunnel part of the Hannover-Wurzburg line. The tunnel passes under Muhlberg Mountain, southwest of Gemunden am Main.
