Kasane (Botswana)

Kasane is a city in Botswana, located close to Africa's 'Four Corners', where 4 countries almost meet: Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. Kasane is at the far north-eastern corner of Botswana and serves as the administrative center of Chobe District. In 2001 the population of Kasane was 7,640.

The town lies on the south bank of Chobe River (width 200-300 m) which forms the border with Namibia's Caprivi Strip. Impalila Island (Namibia) is opposite Kasane  on the river's north bank, and there is a border crossing by ferry to Namibia.

Kasane has numerous lodges and campsites (accommodations oriented towards the safari tour business). The lodges offer day trips into Chobe National Park and boat trips on Chobe River. In Kasane tourists will find offices of First National Bank, Barclays Bank, Standard Bank, all fitted with ATM facilities.
