Kingston NY is a Hudson River cruise port and town in New York state's Ulster County, with population around 25,000. The town is approx 145 lm (90 mi) north of NYC and approx 95 km (59 mi) south of Albany NY.

In 1777, Kingston became NY's first capital city, but was burned by the British on October 13, soon after the Battles of Saratoga (September 19 and October 7) during the American Revolution War (1775-83). The town developed as a transport hub in the 19th-century - after large natural cement deposits were discovered and opening new railroads and river canals. Kingston is best-known for its many historic churches, the oldest of which is The Old Dutch Church (1659).

Kingston is directly connected to NYC via commuter buses (~2-hour travel time). The service is operated by Trailways of New York - one of state's largest private transportation companies. The nearest bridge over Hudson River (Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge) is approx 7 km (4 mi) to the north and carries the highway NY-199. Highway US-9W runs through the city (north-south). Through city's western part runs I-87 (highway part of the New York State Thruway).

As cruise port, Kingston NY was first included in the "Hudson River Cruises" 2018 schedule of the USA's largest river cruise company - ACL-American Cruise Lines.

The next table shows the company's 7-day itinerary from homeport New York City, with prices from ~USD 4,000 per person (double occupancy).

In 2018, Kingston NY was visited by cruise ships 46 times by 3544 passengers. In 2019, the port was visited for the first time by MS Victory 2 - a 202-passenger boat owned by Victory Cruise Line (brand of AQSC-American Queen Voyages/Steamboat Company). Port's 2019 schedule had 49 ship calls with expected 4794 passengers.

Kingston NY cruise terminal

In 2019, Wolfe Island ferry dock (downtown Kingston) was upgraded and expanded (passenger amenities and car-boarding areas) to accommodate a newbuild (bigger) ferryboat. The dock expansion project was for 1 Queen Street (adjacent to the ferry terminal). The project also included creating a deep channel and dockside mooring area with min depth 4,6 m (15 ft) to allow river cruise ships to berth by the mainland.

Currently, most cruise ships on the Great Lakes anchor near Kingston NY and transport their passengers ashore via water taxis.
