Koh Phi Phi Islands are located in Thailand, between Phuket Island and Strait of Malacca (mainland Thailand). The islands are part of the Krabi province. Koh Phi Phi Don island is the largest and most populated. However, Koh Phi Phi Leh Island (to the south) is more popular among tourists. The other isles in the archipelago are named Bida Nok, Bida Noi, and Mai Phai (aka Bamboo Island).

Phi Phi Islands are reachable from Krabi Town by speedboats or the traditional long-tail boats. The population (around 3,000) is over 80% Muslim. The islands became worldwide famous when on the Koh Phi Phi Leh Island was filmed "The Beach" movie (2000, starring Leonardo DiCaprio). The production attracted criticism, as the film-making company damaged the island's prestine environment by bulldozing beach areas and planting palm trees.

Most cruise ships to Koh Phi Phi Island dock at Ao Tonsai Pier - located in the middle (central-south) of the Koh Phi Phi Don island.
