Komarno (aka Komarom) is a Danube River cruise port and town in Slovakia with a population of around 35,000. The town is located on the river's banks. After WW1 (1914-1918), the border of Czechoslovakia passed through and created two new towns - Komarom (Hungary) and Komarno (Slovakia). Both towns are directly linked via Elisabeth Bridge (Hungary-Slovakia border crossing point before the Schengen Agreement of 1985).
Komarno is Slovakia's largest cargo port and also the center of the country's Hungarian community (~60% of town's population) and the seat of the country's Serbian minority. Most of the town's historical sites (including downtown) are well-preserved. Among the best-known tourist attractions are town halls, courthouse, St Andrews Church, Danube Museum, Klapka Square, fortification structures (bastions at the Danube-Vah river confluence), three Austro-Hungarian fortresses (Csilag, Igmand, Monostor).
As a cruise port, Komarno was included in the 2019 schedule of Prinzessin Katharina (1990-built riverboat chartered by Phoenix Reisen). The next table shows the ship's 7-day itinerary (Passau Roundtrip) as ports sequence and port times (arrival/departure). Prices started from USD 1000 per person (double occupancy rates).
