Kralupy nad Vltavou (Kralupech, Kralup an der Moldau) is a Vltava River (Elbe River) cruise port and town in Bohemia (central Czech Republic) with a population of around 18,000. The town is located approx 25 km (16 mi) north of Prague (country's capital city) and is also part of the Prague metro region.
Town's landscape is marked by large forests and 3 bridges over Vltava River - TG-Masaryk (Masarykuv Most, highway bridge), a footbridge (with bicycle lane), and a railway bridge. The town is also a major railway junction as part of the country's main railroad linking Prague (via Decín) with Dresden. Vltava River (Moldau) has length approx 430 km (270 mi) ranking it the longest within the Czech Republic. This is a major inland waterway that is widely used for shipping. The Vltava merges with Elbe River at Melník.
As a tourism destination, Kralupy is popular for cycling (routes Kralupy-Melník-Litomerice-Usti-Decín, Prague-Kralupy, Kralupy-Libcice-Uholicky-Okor, and Kralupy-Tursko-Uholicky-Unetice) and hiking (routes Prague-Rez-Kralupy-Nelahozeves-Ríp, Kralupy-Velvary, and Kralupy-Zakolany-Okor, Kralupy-Veltrusy-Nelahozeves).
