Lismore Island (Scotland Inner Hebrides)

The Isle of Lismore is one of Scotland's Inner Hebrides islands (Argyll and Bute). It covers a total area of approx 2351 hectares (23,5 km2 / 9,1 mi2) and has a population of around 200 (most living in Achnacroish).

Lismore's current day economy is based on farming, fishing, and tourism. The island is linked to mainland Scotland by one passenger and car ferry ship (CalMac Ferries, serving the route Achnacroish-Oban) and one passenger ferry on the route Point (Lismore's northeastern tip)-Port Appin.

Island's facilities include a cafe-restaurant, post office, primary school, heritage centre, church, bicycle rental (Point). Lismore's church was built on the site of a formal cathedral - home of the Bishop of Argyll (aka Bishop of Lismore), one of the country's all 13 medieval bishoprics in the period 1200-1689.
