Litomerice (Czechia)

Litomerice is an Elbe River cruise port and town located at the junction of Elbe and Ohre (Eger) rivers in northern Czech Republic. The town is approx 64 km (40 ml) northwest of Prague (country's capital) and has population around 25,000.

Several main sights are visible upon approaching the town. St Stephen's cathedral (at Dome Square) was built over former Roman basilica in 1664–1668. Next is bishop's residence palace built 1683–1701. On the main square is the All-Saints Church. Within walking distance is the Annunciation (Lady Day) Church. Old Town Hall (currently city museum), Black Eagle House and Northern Bohemian Gallery of Creative Arts are also on the main square. The art gallery has an extensive collection of 13th-century artworks.

There are many cellars connected by an extensive underground network. In some places, the cellars are in 3 floors. These underground tunnels are approx 3 km (2 ml) long and one of Czech Republic's longest. However, only 336 m (1102 ft) of the undergrounds are open to the public.
