Livingston is a port town in eastern Guatemala, located at the mouth of Río Dulce River flowing into Gulf of Honduras (Caribbean Sea). The town has population around 14,000, and serves as municipal seat. Livingston was Guatemala's principal Caribbean seaport before the construction of Puerto Barrios.

Local economy is largely based on production and export of edible oils and fats. In the state is based the company Palmas del Ixczn SA (PALIX) with its own and subcontractor African oil palm plantations. Regularly scheduled ferries connect Livingston with Puerto Barrios (several crossings daily) and with Punta Gorda Belize (twice weekly - on Tuesdays and Fridays). Another ferryboat transports exclusively tourists. All access to Livingston is only by sea (via marine vessels) as the town has no road coonections to the rest of the country.

As cruise port, Livingston Guatemala was first included in Ponant Cruises 2019-2020 itinerary program on the newbuild liner Le Champlain (launched 2018). During winter season (November 2019 through February 2020), the cruise ship had scheduled 14x 7-day voyages roundtrip from Puerto Morelos.

  • The 7-day "Maya Treasure of the Yucatán" cruise itinerary visited Mexican ports only - Puerto Dos BocasProgreso (overnight) and Puerto Morelos (overnight).
  • The 7-day "Natural and Cultural Wonders of Western Caribbean" cruise itinerary included seaday, then visited Honduras (Puerto Cortes), Guatemala (Puerto Barrios, Livingston), Belize City and Bahamas (Half Moon Cay, private island).
