Madison IN is an Ohio River cruise port and city in Jefferson County (Indiana USA) with population around 12,000. In addition to the town's residents, 55,000+ people live just within 15 mi (24 km) from downtown. On Ohio River, between Louisville Kentucky and Cincinnati Ohio) Madison is the largest by population town. The Louisville-Elizabethtown-Madison metro area has population around 1,5 million.

Most of Madison IN's downtown (133 blocks) is designated "National Historic Landmark".

Another "Madison" cruise port is Fort Madison in Iowa (on Mississippi River).

Madison IN is on the river's north bank, bordered to the south by Milton KY. Both towns are connected via Milton-Madison Bridge, which also carries Route 421 (passing directly through downtown Madison). To the north, the road links with Versailles IN (26 mi / 42 km) and to the south with Campbellsburg KY (23 mi / 37 km). Madison is the southern terminus of Indiana State Road 7 (highway linking to Vernon IN, 23 mi / 37 km northwest). Ohio River Scenic Byway links to Vevay (20 mi / 32 km east) and to Louisville KY (23 mi / 37 km west). The road distance from Madison to Scottsburg. is 48 mi (77 km, southwest) and to Cincinnati is 68 mi (109 km, northeast).

Town's construction started in 1810 and it soon started to rapidly develop due to river shipping trade. Indiana State's first railroad was opened in 1847 and in 1921 became part of the Pennsy (Pennsylvania Railroad Company, in 1882 tanked as the world's largest corporation by annual traffic and revenue).

As a cruise port, Madison IN is included in the regular schedule of the USA's largest river cruise company - ACL-American Cruise Lines.
