Mandal is a port town and municipality in Norway's Vest-Agder county (Sorlandet district). By population (around 16,000) the town is the county's second-largest (after Kristiansand). Mandalselva River's mouth is just outside the town. E39 highway (1330-km long road connecting Norway with Denmark) connects Kristiansand with Stavanger runs through Mandal.

Via Kristiansand (a Hurtigruten cruiseferry port), Mandal is also served by passenger ferries. Kristiansand Airport Kjevik serves regularly scheduled domestic and international flights linking to Amsterdam Holland, Copenhagen Denmark, London England, Gdańsk Poland, Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim.

The municipality was established in 1838. In 2020, three municipalities (Mandal, Marnardal, Lindesnes) were merged into Lindesnes, with Mandal as its administrative centre. Town's economy is based on shipbuilding, engineering industries, textile manufacturing, tourism. As a holiday resort vacation destination, Mandal is visited during summer by mainly domestic tourists attracted by its mild climate, traditional Norwegian house architecture, Mandal Church (Norway's largest wooden church with capacity 1800 seats), unique scenery (Mandalselva River runs through downtown) and long beaches (the longest being Sjosanden / nearly 1-km, located in close proximity to downtown). The Hogganvik runestone (5th-century) was discovered in 2009 in the town's Sanum-Lundevik area.

As cruise port, Mandal is included in the summer schedule of the German company Phoenix Reisen, with the ships Amera, Artania, Albatros, Deutschland.
