Marmaris is an Eastern Mediterranean port and resort town in Turkey's Mugla Province, located on Datca Peninsula and along the Turquoise Coast (Turkish Riviera). The port features a natural, deep-water harbour housing two large and several smaller marinas (docks for mega-yachts, sail and pleasure boats). The town has population around 35,000, reaching during summer season up to 400,000. Local economy is based on tourism.

The district (population around 85,000) is served by Dalaman Airport which has 2 terminals - old (domestic flights) and new (international). Regularly scheduled flights connect to Ankara (AnadoluJet) and Istanbul (Pegasus Airlines, Turkish Airlines). However, most of the flights are seasonal charters connecting to 120+ destinations in Europe, North Africa and Asia (Middle East).

Town's scenery is marked by the long and wide bay ringed with pine forests and surrounded by mountains. During summer it is home to hundreds of luxury yachts. The old town is located close to the ferry dock. Among the most visited sites is the waterfront promenade Ataturk Caddesi.

On Datca Peninsula cruise ship tourists also can visit the Ancient Greek cities Knidos (Caria) and Kaunos, the Roman town Loryma (overlooking Bozukkale harbour), Dalyan River (with its scenic beaches).
