Medemblik is an IJsselmeer lake (IJssel River / Rhine River) cruise port and town in the Netherlands' North Holland province (West-Frisia region), with population around 45,000. Often attacked by pirates, the trading town received city rights in 1289. City walls were erected in 1572. In 2007, Medemblik (municipality) merged with Noorder-Koggenland and Wognum. In 2011 were merged Andijk and Wervershoof.
Medemblik's current economy is based on tourism. The town is best known for its two large boat marinas also serving major European sailing events. Tourist attractions include Kasteel Radboud (13th-century harbor castle), 17th-18th-century houses, two churches, orphanage, town hall.
As cruise port, Medemblik was included in the 2019 schedules of Phoenix Reisen's chartered newbuild riverboatsAlena (2018), Asara (2017), and Alina (2011). All itineraries were roundtrips from homeport Cologne/Koln (Germany).
