Milos Island is located in Aegean Sea (eastern mediterranean) and is the southwesternmost in Greece's Cyclades archipelago. The municipality includes Milos plus two uninhabited offshore islands (Akradies and Antimilos) and has population around 5,000. Milos is approx 120 km (75 mi) east from mainland Greece (Laconia).

Milos Island (port Adamantas) is served by regularly scheduled ferries (from Piraeus-Athens) operated by MINOAN LINES (2 weekly crossings), ANEK Lines (1), Zante Ferries (8), Aegean Speed Lines (13) and Seajets (14).

The island is famous for its statue of Aphrodite ("Venus de Milo", displayed in Paris' Louvre museum), as well as the statues of Asclepius (in London's British Museum), Poseidon and Apollo (both in Athens Greece). During summer months, the island is a popular tourism travel destination.

Island's main harbour port is Adamas. The ancient Greek town Milos was nearer to harbour's entrance, on the slope between Klima and Trypiti. Here is a Roman theatre, some town walls and buildings ruins. Milos Island has around 70 beaches, the longest of which is Hivadolimni (about 1 km). North, South and bay beaches are also popular tourist destinations.

Milos Island cruise terminal

Ferries and most cruise ships to Milos Island dock (anchor) at Adamas - port town on the western coast. Smaller ships may stop at Pollonia (on the island's north coast).
