Nanortalik is a port town on Nanortalik Island (Kujalleq, southern Greenland), with population around 1,300 (ranking it country's 10th largest). Nanortalik Island is close to the mouth of Tasermiut Fjord. The island has 2 mountains - Quassik (308 m) and Quaqqarsuasik (559 m).

Local economy is based on hunting (hooded seals) and small boat fishing. Since 2004 is operated Nalunaq goldmine (in Kirkespir Valley), approx 30 km (20 mi) north of the town. During spring months, many domestic tourists hunt hooded seals on the outer islands.

The island has no any factories or large-scale fishing activities due to sea ice allowing fishing only for a few months per year. Small-scale seal and seabird hunting, crab fishing and tourism provide most of the revenue. A well known attraction nearby is Cape Farewell - Greenland's southernmost point.
