Narvik is a port town in Nordland (northeastern Norway) with population around 19,000. The town is located on Ofotfjorden, and close to the Norway-Sweden border.

Narvik is best-known for alpine skiing, having passenger lifts, cable car (to Fagernesfjellet), signed mountain bike route. Vinterfestuka is an annual festival held in early-March. Scuba diving attracts international tourists with many shipwrecks located close to the harbour and more in the fjord. Mountain hiking-biking and fishing (in the lakes or the fjord) are other popular outdoor leisure activities. Occupation Museum has a rare Enigma coding machine (from Germany) captured during WW2 (1939-1945).

Port Narvik is well protected deep-water and ice-free seaport. It consists of 3 waterfront sections - central (with docking piers), deep-water harbor (Fagernes) and LKAB (bulk cargo port). The port handles around 16 million tons of cargo per year.

A port expansion project enlarged the containership terminal area to approx 45,000 m2 (11 acres), which is over twice the size of Norway's biggest terminal in Oslo.

In 2018, the port handled 10 cruise ship calls. For 2019, the cruise port had scheduled 22 ship calls. Land tours from Narvik can be combined with tours to other Norwegian destinations, including the archipelagos Lofoten and Vesteraalen. Among the most popular annual tourist events are "Northern Lights" (during winter) and "Midnight Sun" (during summer).

Narvik cruise terminal

For 2019 were planned the cruise terminal to be moved to downtown and the port to build LNG bunkering facility to serve LNG-powered vessels. Prior to 2019, cruise ships in Port Narvik berthed at a dedicated dock (located approx 1 mi /1,5 km from downtown) and to their passengers was offered bus shuttle service.
