Naxos Island is sized 429 km2 (166 ml2) ranking it the largest in the Cyclades group. The island is in Aegean Sea and has population around 20,000.
Naxos was Cyclades' centre of culture, and famous for its rocks rich in corundum - one of the best abrasives in ancient times. Island's largest town is Chora (aka Naxos City), with population around 7,000. Larger villages include Apiranthos, Agios Arsenios, Filoti, Koronos, Glinado, Vivlos.
Naxos is a very popular tourism travel destination in Greek, featuring several famous ruins and large beaches, most in the vicinity of Chora. As most Cyclades Islands, Naxos is windy, making it perfect for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
