Nynashamn is a ferry and cruise port located in county Stockholm (Sweden). The town covers a total area of 7 km2 (3 mi2) and has population around 14,000. The port started to grow from the mid-19th century but began to develop since the opening of the railway to Stockholm in 1901.

Nynashamn, which lies 60 km south of Stockholm, is well known for being one of the places on mainland Sweden from where ferries to Gotland Island depart. Oland and Gotland islands are located off Sweden's southeastern coast. Nynashamn is linked to Gotland by regularly scheduled ferries (via Oskarshamn, Smaland), with crossing time ~3 hours. All ferries are subsidized by the Swedish government and run by DESTINATION GOTLAND. The company's largest ships are the newbuilds/sisterships MS Visborg (2018) and MS Gotland (2019).

Since 2016 are also regularly scheduled ferries to Vastervik (during summer only) run by Gotlandsbaten AB (an independent passenger shipping company). Nynashamn is a popular tourism travel destination during the summer months. Polferries offer regular crossings to Gdansk, Poland.

STENA LINE's ferries depart from Stockholm Norvik Hamn/Port, located approx 5 km / 3 mi (~10 min drive distance) to the north from downtown Nynashamn via the Nynasvagen road (57 km / 35 mi) linking Nynashamn with Stockholm.

A harbor party is organized each summer, along with local craft fairs. During the events, a steam train runs routes to/from Stockholm. In the summer months, Nynashamn harbor is packed with vessels of all sizes, and bustles with both locals and visitors. There are cosy eateries and boutiques with local produce. A one-screen cinema and a library is centrally located in the main town, as well as a limited amount of shops that cater to local trade.

Life in Nynashamn is relaxed, in contrast to Stockholm's bustle. The surrounding nature provides a wealth of photographic opportunities, once one gets out of downtown. Crime in Nynashamn is low.

During the early-20th century, the town became a well-known spa destination. In 1916 were built the Telegrafverkets verkstader factories (state-owned phone company). An oil refinery (by Axel Axson Johnson Co) was built in 1929 and is still operational (now owned by Nynas).
