Otranto is a Mediterranean port town in Italy's Lecce province (Apulia region), located on Salento peninsula's eastern coast. Otranto Strait connects Adriatic Sea with Ionian Sea and also separates Italy from Albania. Faro della Palascìa is a famous lighthouse located approx 5 km (3 ml) southeast of the town and marks Italian mainland's eastern tip.

Otranto's main tourist attractions include Castello Aragonese (medieval castle with 5 sides and a surrounding moat with draw-bridge, 3 cylindrical towers, bastion), Cathedral (built 1088, with a rose window, bones and religious relics of a 15th-century siege), San Pietro Church (with Byzantine frescoes), Torre Pinta (catacombs).

As cruise port, Otranto has a small natural harbour and is visited by smaller-sized luxury ships, including sailing ships.

Otranto cruise terminal

Cruise ships in Otranto anchor at open sea (near the harbour) and transport their passengers to the port's docking pier via the ship's tender boats.
