Paulet Island is an uninhabited circular island (about 1,5 km / 1 ml in diameter), located 4,5 km (3 ml) southeast of Dundee Island, off the northeastern end of Antarctic Peninsula. Due to its large penguin colony, Paulet is well known cruise ship travel destination for sightseeing tours.
- The island is composed of lava flows capped by cone with a summit crater. Volcano's morphology suggests it was active within the last 1000 years.
- The island was discovered during the 1839–1843 British Antarctic expedition led by James Clark Ross (1800-1862). The island was named after Lord George Paulet (1803-1879).
- During the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901-1904) led by Otto Nordenskiöld (1869-1928), in 1903 his ship crushed and sunk off the island's coast. A stone hut was erected by the survivors.
- Paulet Island is designated IBA (Important Bird Area) by BirdLife International for supporting a large breeding colony of around 100,000 pairs of Adelie penguins. Other nesting birds on the island include snow petrels, kelp gulls and imperial shags.
