Playa Flamingo is a beach town in Costa Rica's Guanacaste Province (on the Gold Coast/Pacific Ocean). The closest international airport is Daniel Oduber Quiros (aka Liberia Airport in Liberia/Guanacaste's largest city), approx 1-hour drive. The larger Juan Santamaria Airport (in San Jose City/Costa Rica's capital) is approx 5-hours.

The town is spread along the white-sand Flamingo Beach and backed by mangrove forests. There are no downtown and large developments. Transportation is mainly via rental golf carts. Tourist amenities include restaurants (Coco Loco, Angelina's, Amigos Taco y Beer), bar cafes (Surf Box, Alo Nico, Camparino Pizzeria Italiana), shops, a grocery store. Flamingo Marina (on the town's northern corner) has berthing capacity 175 slips. It serves pleasure boats and yachts and also has its own hotel, business center, restaurants, shops.

As cruise port, Playa Flamingo Costa Rica is visited by top-luxury cruise lines operating smaller-sized ships and superyachts, including the travel brands Windstar and Star Clippers (tall-sailing ships). Next table shows a 7-night/8-day itinerary that was scheduled by Star Clippers for seasons 2022 and 2023.

Flamingo Beach has length ~1 mi (1,5 km) (1.5 km), beach loungers and umbrellas are available for rent. Tourist activities include catamaran cruises (along the Guanacaste's coast), boat tours and charter boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, sportfishing (marlins, tuna, common dolphinfish, mackerel, snapper), jet-skiing, surfing, wildlife viewing, land tours (to the national parks Rincon de la Vieja, Palo Verde, Santa Rosa).

Accommodation options in Playa Flamingo include small-sized hotels, condos, vacation homes and whole-house rentals. Margaritaville Beach Resort (fka Flamingo Beach Resort) is the only all-inclusive hotel. It provides direct beach access and modern amenities (swimming pool, tennis court, kids playground, wellness complex/spa, gym). The other two large hotels are "360 Splendor del Pacifico Residences" (1-2-3-bedroom luxury apartments, saltwater infinity swimming pool, modern gym) and "Casas del Toro" (apartments and villas).

The closest villages/to the south are Brasilito and Playa Conchal. Further to the south (approx 30-min drive) is Tamarindo - a world-famous surfing and golfing destination featuring the Hacienda Pinilla Golf Course (18-hole) and Tamarindo Airport (serves only domestic flights linking with San Jose and Liberia).
