Port Saint Louis du Rhone is a Rhone River cruise port and town in southern France,, with population around 9,000. The town was established in 1904. Saint-Louis channel (connecting Rhone with Mediterranean Sea) was created in 1871.
Saint Louis du Rhone is an industrial and port annex of Marseille located at the mouth of Rhone River. Local scenery features many nature parks, large avenues and farmhouses (camarguais), 3 beaches (Carteau, Napoleon, Olga), numerous marshes (including salt-water / Camargue swamp), grain mills, petrochemical factories. Wildlife includes pink flamingos (in the marshes) and herds of wild horses.
Major activities include food market (held on Wednesdays), Fair (held early August), festival (held on July's 3rd Sunday, featuring bullfight, tournaments, folklore), Rhone beach (kitesurfing school, veil, sea fishing, horseriding, camping, boating, yacht club).
In 2019, the port was included in Avalon Waterways France cruise itinerary program with the ship Avalon Poetry 2. Next table shows 7-day itinerary (Arles to Lyon, and the reverse Lyon to Arles) as ports of call. Prices started from around USD 4000 pp.
