Port Vila is Vanuatu's capital and largest seaport and city. It is located on Efate Island's southern coast and has population around 45,000 - nearly 20% of country's population and 70% of Efate Island's population. The city covers a total area of approx 5 km2 (2 mi2). In close proximity to Efate is Lelepa Island - Royal Caribbean's private island resort property named "Perfect Day at Lelepa".
Most cruise ships to Efate Island dock (anchor) at Port Vila - port town on the western coast. Some ships may stop at Port Havannah - located on the northwestern coast.
Port Vila is Vanuatu's commercial and economic center, most important harbour port and center of country's shipping trade. The city is served by the international airport Bauerfield. Here is also headquartered Air Vanuatu (country's main airline). City's economy is based on the industries agriculture, commercial fishing and tourism (especially via flights and cruise ships from Australia and New Zealand). Vanuatu is a tax haven, so offshore financing in Port Vila is a major part of city's economy.
Vanuatu Cultural Centre (hosting Vanuatu National Museum) is at Saralana Park (in front of the parliament). Traditional artifacts from a few islands are on display in the museum. Vanuatu Cultural Centre also hosts the National Audiovisual Archives which is the major fund of documents from late-19th-century until today.

Vanuatu Islands (officially Republic of Vanuatu) is an island nation located in the South Pacific. The islands cover a total area of approx 12190 km2 (4706 mi2) and population around 290,000. Large cruise ships to Vanuatu Islands dock (anchor) either at Luganville or Champagne Bay (near Hog Harbour, in the northeast part of Espiritu Santo Island).
The archipelago is of volcanic origin and is situated some 1750 km (1090 mi) east of northern Australia, east of New Guinea, 540 km (340 mi) northeast of New Caledonia, west of Fiji and southeast of Solomon Islands.
The tourism industry in Vanuatu is a major revenue source as the archipelago is widely recognised as a premier vacation travel destination - especially for coral reef scuba diving. A unique attraction to scuba divers is the wreck of the US luxury cruise ship President Coolidge (converted troop carrier) on Espiritu Santo Island. Sunk during WW2 (1939-1945), the vessel is among the world's largest shipwrecks accessible for recreational diving.
