Preveza (Greece)

Preveza is a port town in Epirus region (northwestern Greece), located at the mouth of Ambracian Gulf and with population around 32,000.

• Aktio-Preveza Immersed Tunnel is so far the only undersea tunnel in Greece. It was completed in 2002 and links Preveza with Aktio (western Acarnania). The ruins of ancient Nicopolis city are approx 7 km (4 ml) north of the town.
• The municipality was established in 2011 by merging 3 former municipalities.
• Port Preveza is connected by road to Igoumenitsa as well as to other coastal settlements via road E55. It is also linked with other Epirus cities (including Arta and Ioannina). Preveza has a small commercial port (serving cargo ships, ferries and cruise liners) and is served by nearby Aktion Airport (domestic flights) also serving Lefkada Island.
