Pulau Tioman Island is located in Malaysia's Pahang state (sultanate). The island covers a total area of approx 136 km2 (53 ml2) and has population under 500. Tioman Island is approx 32 km (20 ml) off Pahang's east coast. It has 8 main villages, the largest of which is Kampung Tekek (on the north coast).

This densely forested island is sparsely inhabited and surrounded by amazing coral reefs, making it a well known scuba diving spot. A lot of chalets and resorts are found around the island, all having duty-free status.

Pulau Tioman is served by ferries from mainland Malaysia. Until 2013, domestic flights (by Berjaya Air) serviced the island with propeller planes from Singapore (Changi Airport). Currently, the service is operated from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (Subang) to Tioman. Systematic Aviation Services operate flights with several Cessna single-engine planes. Flight time is about 1 hour 15 min.

Tioman is part of Pahang territory, although the island is closer to Johor than Pahang, and is accessed by ferry from Johor (Port Mersing). The marine area around the island and 8 other nearby isles is declared a marine park and reserve. Apart from its abundant marine life, the island's rainforest area was designated "Pulau Tioman Wildlife Reserve" in 1972. However, a big part of the initial reserve was sacrificed in 1984 for the agricultural and tourism industries. The remaining area is approx 8296 hectares (20500 acres).

Cruise ships to Pulau Tioman Island dock (anchor) at Kampung Tekek on the north-western coast.
