Punta Gorda is a Caribbean cruise port and the largest town of Belize's Toledo District, with population around 6,000. The town's economy is based on its cargo port, commercial fishing and tourism. Punta Gorda has several large waterfront hotels and jungle lodges serving mainly English-speaking international tourists.
Belize's cruise port has a namesake in the USA - Florida's Punta Gorda.

Punta Gorda is the main gateway for visiting Belize's Southern Coast and the Southern Cayes (islands). Punta Gorda Airport serves the domestic airlines Maya Island Air and Tropic Air. Both airlines operate regularly scheduled flights linking to Belize City, Dangriga and Placencia (both in the Stann Creek District).
Regular buses connect with Belize City, Dangriga and Belmopan (Cayo District). Water taxis (small open boats) offer daily connections to Puerto Barrios Guatemala (Santo Tomas de Castilla) and twice-weekly crossings to Livingston Guatemala.
