Rosendal is a port town in Norway, located on Hardangerfjorden's southern coast. It covers an area of approx 1 km2 (0,5 mi2 /280 acres) and has population around 1,000.

Rosendal is approx 4 km (2,5 mi) north of Dimmelsvik and approx 10 km (6 mi) west of Folgefonna glacier (part of Folgefonna National Park).

Town's main tourist attractions are Barony Rosendal (historic estate), Kvinnherad Church and Skaalurensamlinga (maritime museum themed on shipbuilding in Rosendal / technology and tools).

Rosendal's economy is based on tourism and agriculture. The local shipbuilding yard Skaalurens Skibsbyggeri was founded in 1855 and constructed mainly sailboats. In 1955 the yard started building steel-hulled ships, including chemical tankers.

Hardangerfjord

Hardangerfjord is Norway's 2nd-longest and the world's 4th-longest fjord. Located in Hordaland (Hardanger), its length is 179 km (111 mi) starting from the sea and going into the country's mountainous interior. Its innermost point is the port town Odda, and the outermost part is the Bomlafjorden.

Hardangerfjord is among Norway's most popular tourist travel destinations, becoming a major industry for aal the communities located along the fjord. Fish farming is another major industry for the Hardangerfjord towns and villages, with fish farms producing 40,000+ tons of fish (mainly salmon and rainbow trout) annually. The Norwegian brand bottled water "Isklar" (translated "ice clear") is from the Hardangerfjord's melt-water and is distributed worldwide.
