Saarburg is a Saar River/Moselle River cruise port and town in Germany's Rhineland-Palatinate state (Trier-Saarburg district) with population around 8,000. The town is just a few kilometers upstream from Saar River's junction with Moselle.

The settlement was established in 964 after building a castle (now ruined) by Graf Siegfried of Luxembourg. It received town status in 1291. Saarburg is Germany's only place where bronze bells are still made. After WW2 (1939-1945), in the period 1945-1948 the town was occupied by Luxembourg, then by French troops (until 1955).
