Port Salomague is the main seaport for accessing The Philippines' province Ilocos Sur (on the northern part of Luzon Island) with capital Vigan City. Salomague Island is a small isle located close (5-min boat ride) from Ilocos Cruise Port (in Port Salomague). Vigan City (Ilocos Sur's capital) is approx 1-hour drive from Salomague.
As a travel destination, Salomague-Ilocos features perfectly preserved colonial Spanish architecture, picturesque town squares, crystal-clear waters, secluded fine sand beaches (Cabugao). Cheap taxis go to Cabugao's coastline which is best known for the Pug-os Beach and its premium resorts. Vigan City itself is another most popular cruise shore excursion option from Salomague, especially for souvenir shopping - handmade arts and crafts. On the nearby Salomague Island, cruise passengers will find white-sand beaches and some of The Philippines best snorkelling and scuba diving sites.
As cruise port, Salomague-Ilocos was inaugurated in January 2020. The new Ilocos Cruise Terminal is operated by Bloombery Cruise Terminals - a fully-owned subsidiary of Bloomberry Resorts Corporation. Bloomberry is a stock-listed holding company specializing in leisure businesses like hotels, amusement parks, tourist facilities, gaming. In 2019, Bloomberry started a USD 300 million project (Solaire Cruise Center) in Manila for construction and management of a modern cruise terminal and resort complex (world's first with its own cruise port) scheduled for completion and inauguration in 2021. The adjacent Solaire Resort and Casino is a 5-star complex and country's equivalent to Las Vegas (Nevada USA).
On January 6, 2020, Port Salomague-Ilocos was visited by one of the world's largest passenger ships - Spectrum Of The Seas (RCI-Royal Caribbean). The 7-day itinerary was a roundtrip from China to Japan and The Philippines.
