The Roman Wine Route is a holiday tourism destination on Moselle River which partly follows the Roman Empire's supply roads laid out parallel to the river. The Route starts just a few km down the Moselle from Trier. Popular for tourists activities along the Roman Wine Route include cycling (numerous cycle paths - Mosel-Radweg from Metz to Koblenz, Radweg Wittlicher Senke, Salm Radweg), mountain biking, hiking, Moselle wine-themed excursions ( Riesling , Muller-Thurgau, Pinot Noir, Dornfelder).
The town received city rights in 1984. At the boat marina (located close to the cruise ship dock) in Schweich (translated "silent") is the town's landmark - Fahrturm (ferry tower). In the late-19th-century, the tower served one of the most important ferry crossings on Moselle River (the route Trier-Koblenz). To the north, there is a train station part of the Trier-Wittlich railway.
Other popular tourist attractions in Schweich include Niederprumer Hof (12th-century Benedictine monastery), St Martin Kirche (church), St Georg Kapelle (chapel), Stefan Andres (fountain), Die Synagogue, Jewish Cemetery, old houses (Hisgenhaus, Geibenhaus).
