Scrabster is a port town on Thurso Bay, Caithness county (Highland Scotland), located approx 2 km (1,5 mi) from Thurso (Highland's 2nd largest - after Inverness), approx 36 km (23 mi) from Wick and approx 180 km (112 mi) from Inverness.

Scrabster Harbour (locode GBSCR) is a major port for Scotland's fishing industry as well as the UK's most northerly mainland commercial port. The 1841-founded Scrabster Harbour Trust is an independent Trust Port governed by its own legislation. The surpluses are reinvested in the port's maintenance/development to ensure it meets the customers' requirements. During WW2 (1939-45), the port served as ferry base to bring military explosives to Scapa Flow (Orkney Islands).

Close to Scrabster is the Lighthouse and the spectacular Holborn Head cliffs. To the east, Thurso harbour is overlooked by the ruins of Thurso Castle (17th century) and Harold's Tower. Other popular among tourists places include St Peter's church ruins (13th century) and Folk Museum. Along the coast is the Castle of Mey - summer residence of Queen Elizabeth (1900-2002) - wife of King George VI (1895-1952) and mother of Queen Elizabeth II. The 1826-founded Old Pulteney Whisky Distillery is one of Britain's most northern distilleries. In 2016, the vintage Old Pulteney 1989 was awarded "World’s Best Malt Whisky".

MV Hamnavoe (NORTHLINK FERRIES) offers regularly scheduled daily crossings between Scrabster and Stromness (Orkney Island). Until 2008, during summer months, Smyril Line offered a weekly ferry service to the Faroe Islands. Far North Line (nearest railway) connects Thurso to Inverness.

For season 2019, the cruise port had scheduled 14 ship calls with ~5300 passengers.

In early-2020 started the construction of a new dedicated berth to allow docking for larger cruise vessels - with max LOA length 250 m (820 ft). The GBP 18,9 million (EUR 22,7M) project was scheduled for completion in 2021-Q4.

The redeveloped St Ola Pier was officially opened on December 9, 2021. The extended pier provides 500 m (16 40 ft) of deepwater berthing. The quay has water depth 9 m (30 ft/the new outer berth) and 7,5 m (25 ft/inner berths).

Queen Elizabeth Pier has length 180 m (591 ft) and max draft/depth 8 m (26 ft). The deepwater anchorage is within 0.2 mi (0,4 km) of the harbour.

The first cruise ship that docked at Scrabster Harbour's new St Ola Pier was MS Hamburg, on May 3, 2022.
